Though during this time, Chicano Theatre had a central theme among their plays. Many of the plays revolved around the idea of the difficulty with adapting to Anglo culture. However, the popularity of Chicano theatre dissipated during the Great Depression and the central theme with it. In the 60's and 70's, the new theme for Chicano Theatre was expansion of civil rights.
